The Manager of Business Development is a true hunter and relationship builder. You feel confident walking into any room, picking up the phone, starting conversations and quickly understanding a prospect's business challenges and goals. As the Manager of Business Development, you will be responsible for driving new business growth through strategic prospecting, relationship development, sales execution and complete CRM ownership and management. You have marketing agency experience and know how to navigate common objections, whether a prospect already has an agency partner or manages marketing in-house, and can effectively communicate where we bring value.

This is not a transactional sales role. At Station8, we value long-term partnerships. You understand these relationships and take a consultative approach to business development. You're a strong storyteller, an even better listener and can adapt your communication style to different stakeholders.

Success in this role requires someone who can build trust, create opportunities, maintain an organized sales pipeline, and close business while representing the agency as a strategic partner.

At its core, this role focuses on generating new business, cultivating client relationships and expanding the agency's presence within B2B industries, including Manufacturing, Medical/Dental Manufacturing and Technology. Local candidates are preferred, though remote or hybrid arrangements may be considered based on the needs of the role and the candidate.

What's expected of you (essential job functions)
  • Lead prospecting, relationship cultivation and new client acquisition efforts
  • Qualify prospective clients
  • Own lead generation initiatives and outbound business development activities, including phone outreach
  • Collaborate with agency leadership on sales strategy, performance reporting, planning and execution
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective clients, building relationships and guiding conversations through the sales process
  • Lead client visits, networking efforts and business development meetings alongside agency leadership
  • Attend trade shows, networking events and execute event-related business development strategies
  • Consult on Statements of Work (SOWs), proposals and contracts for new business opportunities
  • Maintain complete ownership of CRM management, including pipeline reporting, lead tracking, contact management and data integrity
  • Monitor and report on sales performance, pipeline health, forecasting and business development KPIs
  • Meet or exceed assigned monthly quotas and desired sales metrics
  • Support agency marketing initiatives, community engagement efforts and brand presence activities
  • Identify opportunities for growth within existing client relationships and communicate recommendations to internal teams
  • Continuously improve business development systems, outreach strategies, sales processes and stakeholder communication practices in partnership with agency leadership
  • Contribute positively to the agency's collaborative culture by fostering respectful relationships, communicating effectively and supporting teammates across departments
Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Managing Director and the Principal
  • Collaborates with leadership, marketing and creative teams to support agency growth initiatives
Mandatory Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in business development, sales, account strategy, marketing or agency environments
  • Proven ability to generate new business and develop long-term client relationships
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving, relationship-building and strategic thinking abilities
  • Strong listening skills with the ability to quickly understand business challenges and identify strategic opportunities
  • Comfortable initiating conversations, conducting outreach, and building relationships through phone, virtual and in-person interactions
  • Experience navigating and overcoming common sales objections, including incumbent agency relationships and in-house marketing teams
  • Strong understanding of marketing strategy, branding, creative services and how agency teams operate
  • Experience managing CRM systems, sales pipelines, reporting, forecasting and lead tracking
  • Excellent communication, presentation, storytelling and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead discovery conversations, sales meetings, presentations and strategic business discussions
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
  • Comfortable attending networking events, trade shows, client visits and industry functions
  • Collaborative team player who contributes positively to agency culture and fosters respectful working relationships across departments
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field preferred, but equivalent professional experience will be considered
Compensation

Compensation for this role will be based on experience, industry expertise, and demonstrated ability to drive business growth. The position begins with a salary-based structure, with eligibility for performance-based commission opportunities tied to client retention and long-term relationship growth.
